The monthly power generation of Luneng Haixi CSP O&M Project has reached a historic high

On September 1, 2024, good news came from Luneng Haixi CSP O&M Project. As of 24:00 on August 31, 2024, Luneng Haixi CSP station monthly power generation for August reached 11.524275 million kilowatt-hours, setting a new record since the unit was put into operation.
Luneng Haixi CSP O&M Project, as one of the first batch of national multi-energy complementary integration and optimization demonstration projects, is located in Golmud City, Qinghai Province, covering an area of approximately 6,400 acres. It uses tower molten salt solar thermal power generation technology, with 4,400 heliostats each covering an area of 138 square meters, and is equipped with a 12-hour molten salt heat storage system. This is the country's longest heat storage solar thermal power station and the first to achieve continuous, stable 24-hour power generation.
Since taking on the commercial operation and maintenance of this project, the project team at the Company has consistently adhered to the concept of green and sustainable development. They have focused precisely on improving the stability of the power station's operations and increasing power generation levels, driving the project toward achieving operational management goals of enhancing system reliability and reducing equipment operational risks. During the operation and maintenance period, the team successfully explored, practiced, and applied one-click start-up processes for the heat collection system, SGS system, and turbine. At this stage, the station's CCS is fully operational, and all grid-related tests have been completed.
In August of this year, to improve the overall performance of the power station's equipment and ensure the safe and efficient operation of the unit, Luneng Haixi CSP O&M Project team established a task force to tackle challenges. Facing the harsh environmental conditions of high altitude, strong winds, and sand, the team followed a "three-step" work strategy. They focused on quickly eliminating equipment defects and enhancing equipment reliability by optimizing the deep integration of the concentrating solar power, heat storage and exchange, and power generation systems. They successfully addressed a series of issues, such as the instability of key equipment in the molten salt heat storage and exchange system and the inefficiency of the heat absorption system. These efforts significantly improved the calibration accuracy of the heliostat field, laying a solid foundation for the station's record-breaking monthly power generation and future high-quality performance. Through continuous exploration, research, and optimization by the operation and maintenance team, this project has now become the most automated operational CSP station among the first batch of multi-energy complementary integration optimization demonstration projects.
Since the Company took over the operation, the project operation and maintenance team has strictly adhered to various production management systems and regulations, diligently carrying out the commissioning, operation, and maintenance of the power plant. As of now, the unit's operational status is excellent, with annual power generation showing a year-on-year growth trend. In 2023, the power generation reached nearly 100 million kWh, achieving 1,080 days of safe and stable operation. The cumulative power generation has reached 306.68 million kWh, with the load factor repeatedly hitting new highs.
