2023-12-28

On December 27th, China Electric Power Construction Association announced the results of the 2023 Electric Power Construction Control Circle Activity Competition. The QC achievement titled “Improving the Utilization Rate of Mirror Fields for Heliostats”, organised and compiled by  Company with the guidance of Quality Control Department, was awarded the Special Prize. This fully demonstrates the industry’s high recognition and affirmation of  Company’s capabilities in tower-type solar-thermal field operation and maintenance, scientific research, innovation, consulting and technological improvement. In addition,  Company also received 2 first prizes, 1 second prize, and 1 third prize.

The company, as a solid link in the parent companny's EPCO industry chain, shoulders the mission and responsibility of "commissioning, operation, and maintenance". In recent years, with a focus on the development philosophy of dual carbon and green empowerment, the company has deeply cultivated the new energy sector, specifically in photovoltaic and solar thermal markets. Leveraging the technical support from the PowerChina and the parent company, along with its unremitting efforts,  Company has provided high-quality and efficient "integrated commissioning, operation, and maintenance" solutions for numerous partners, earning unanimous praise within the industry.

After six years of exploration and practice,  Company has accumulated rich experience in commissioning and commercial operation in the fields of solar thermal and photovoltaic power generation. The company has successfully led the commissioning and commercial operation of multiple photovoltaic and tower-type solar thermal projects in both domestic and international regions, including Morocco Noor 150MW Tower CSP Power Plant, Morocco Noor 200MW Parabolic Trough CSP Power Plant, Dubai 250MW PV Project, Uzbekistan Navoi 100MW Solar Power Project, Qinghai Haixi 50MW Multi-energy Complementary Thermal Power Plant, South Africa Redstone 100MW Tower CSP Power Plant, Qinghai Gonghe 50MW Tower CSP Project, Xinjiang Fuhai 20MW PV Power Plant, Jordan Disi 24MW PV Power Plant, etc. During the operation and maintenance period undertaken by  Company, the Qinghai Gonghe 50MW Tower CSP Project and the Luneng Haixi 50MW Tower CSP Project have each achieved a thermal storage capacity of 6 hours and 12 hours, successfully realizing 24-hour continuous power generation. Both power stations have systematically addressed various equipment malfunction issues, and through continuous optimization of operational strategies, they have continuously broken single-day, single-month, and annual operation records. Currently, both power stations are in the defect elimination phase and are experiencing a rapid improvement in performance. The excellent data and reports from these two commercially operated power stations in China strongly demonstrate that  Company's solar thermal "commissioning, operation, and maintenance" technology and technological improvement capabilities are becoming increasingly mature.

Technical breakthroughs ensure production continuity. Leveraging its extensive operational experience and strong technical capabilities in various types of solar thermal units both domestically and internationally,  Company continues to tap into its own potential. The company has organized expert teams to consecutively overcome several technical challenges that impact the performance, efficiency, and economic viability of solar thermal units. These challenges include reducing the startup time of tower-type solar thermal units, improving the automatic startup rate of tower-type solar thermal units, preheating large molten salt storage tanks, compressing air blowing pipes for solar-thermal power plants, ensuring the mechanical precision of heliostats, and increasing the utilization rate of heliostats, among many other critical and core technologies. Additionally, unmanned aerial vehicle diagnostics for solar thermal mirrors, negative load forecasting and control, novel cleaning methods for mirror facilities, and solar thermal molten salt filtration technology are also undergoing intense testing and research and development.

Application of achievements promotes development. The value of technology lies in its application, and  Company's new energy team, taking into account the characteristics and operating modes of solar thermal power generation, combined with abundant operational data from numerous commercially operated projects, has effectively addressed various persistent issues such as long startup times, low automation levels, poor stability of units, low unit load rates, and low economic benefits. This has led to significant improvements and elimination of economic and technical inefficiencies in power plants. Simultaneously, leveraging a large number of technically skilled talents in the competitive solar thermal power generation industry chain, as well as the excellent execution of project team maintenance work and rich operational experience,  Company's new energy team is capable and confident in improving the pain points of long learning periods and slow capacity ramp-up for solar thermal power plants. This not only empowers further adjustments in the new energy industry structure but also creates more value for the owners.

All that has passed is but a prologue! Starting anew, the towering mountains are boundless. Facing the future,  Company will continue to intricately fine-tune the commissioning and meticulously manage the operation in the vast field of solar thermal power plants. With craftsmanship, we pursue excellence, and with technological innovation, we lead the integration of commissioning, operation, and maintenance, attaining remarkable milestones in this fertile ground.
