Pakistan GHCL Project Finishes Unit Heat Rate Reform Test for #6 of Muzaffargarh Power Plant

2017-10-10

At local time 10:00 to 12:00 of October 5th, 2017, Pakistan GHCL Project successfully finished the unit heat rate reform test for #6 of Muzaffargarh power plant.

The Muzaffargarh power plant is composed by 6 GT power sets operated during 1993 to 1997, and the total installed capacity is 1350MW. The #6 is the oil-gas fired unit aided by China. It has been operating for more than 20 years, the unit is old without online instrument, and many important measuring points are damaged, all these problems bring many difficulties to the test.

In order to finish the test, the testing team came to the site in advance for preparation work. The team gathered related materials, temporarily made measuring points, adjusted and optimized the unit, and finally finished the whole work from taking the testing equipment into the site, to installing the instrument, to commissioning and to finishing the test including plant heat rate test, air preheater leakage test, steam turbine cylinder efficiency, vacuum leakage test, flue gas flow test, exhaust emission test within 5 days and gathered the first-hand material of unit technical reform. The team’s excellent execution won recognition from the owner.

Finishing the test for the first oil-fired unit builds firm foundation for the following works of the other 13 units.
