To effectively enhance the fire safety awareness of the project staff and further improve the project’s ability to respond to emergencies, on August 22, the Saudi Arabia Yanbu Phase III O&M Project, in collaboration with the owner (SWA), the supervisor (FICHTNER), and the natural gas contractor (JV), organized an emergency drill for a natural gas pipeline leak.
Before the drill began, the project's HSE department, along with the owner’s and supervisor’s HSE personnel, collaboratively planned a detailed drill process and steps. The drill simulated a fire resulting from a gas leak in the 13-meter natural gas pipeline of Unit 5. As the fire alarm for Unit 5 sounded, the project immediately activated the emergency response plan, quickly deploying chemical duty officers and the project emergency response team to the scene for rescue operations. Upon arrival, the rescue personnel first stopped the chemical injection pump, promptly transferred the injured for emergency treatment, and began site cleanup. The entire drill was close to real-world conditions, conducted in an orderly manner, with participants fulfilling their roles and coordinating effectively, achieving the expected results.
This drill thoroughly tested the scientific validity and effectiveness of the project's fire emergency response plan and further enhanced the project’s emergency response capabilities for unexpected events. Moving forward, the project will focus on building a safety management system based on "safety as the foundation, technology as support, equipment as the theme, and regulations as the guarantee". This includes strengthening inspections of on-site facilities and equipment, eliminating various safety hazards such as fire risks, and ensuring the continued stability of the project’s safety production situation.
